When it comes to eCommerce store development, Shopify is considered the best platform to get started. Whether you are a small, medium, or large-scale business, Shopify has eCommerce plans for all businesses.

Though hiring an expert can ease so much work, with Shopify, you can create an online store on your own. You don’t need to mess around with technical stuff in order to build a Shopify store.

But, how long does it take to build a Shopify store?

Depending on the developer’s skills and your requirements, it can take between several hours and several months to build a Shopify store.

If you have never used Shopify or any website builder before, it will take some time to get used to it. Shopify offers pre-built themes, through which you can create a beautiful store. If you have prior web design experience, you can add a custom look to your Shopify store.

How To Create A Shopify Store?

If you are unsure whether Shopify is the right platform for you, you can try its free trial. Once the 14-day trial ends, depending on your requirements, you can choose from five pricing plans: Lite Plan, Basic Shopify Plan, Shopify Plan, Advanced Shopify Plan, and Shopify Plus Plan.

Follow these steps to set up a beautiful Shopify store:

Signup

First of all, decide your business name. Then, head over to the Shopify website, click on ‘start free trial.’ It will ask you for details like store name, email address, etc. The store name you enter needs to be unique. If the store name is not available, use some numbers to make it unique. Later on, you need to add a custom domain name.

Add your product

Once you signup, you will be taken to the admin panel where you can add your product. Add the title, description, SKU, price fields, etc. of the product. When writing the description, add small paragraphs and bullet points to make it engaging for the users. And, add high-quality product images, videos, and/or 3D models.

Theme

Your store’s look and appearance create a significant impact on user engagement. On the Shopify theme store, you will find plenty of free and paid themes. Premium themes offer extra features that free themes usually lack. If you want to go one step further and add custom designs to your Shopify store, you should definitely hire a Shopify developer.

Configure settings

Now that you have added a free/paid/custom theme to your store, it’s time to configure some settings on the backend. It includes settings for:

  • Shipping: Depending on your product(s), you can set free shipping, flat rate, or carrier rates.
  • Taxes: Does your product price includes taxes? Or, do you want to collect taxes based on the country? You can configure tax settings by going to Settings > Taxes.
  • Payments: Configure settings for how you want to collect payments. Add popular payment methods like Shopify Payments, PayPal, AfterPay, etc. so that your customers can securely make payments.
  • Checkout: Do you want your customers to create an account for checkout? Or, do you want them to checkout as guests? Go to Settings > Checkout to configure these settings.
Custom domain

Before making your store live, add a custom domain that represents your brand. You buy a new domain name from Shopify, or you can buy it from somewhere else and connect to your store.
